The scripture below really stood out loudly to me this morning. The question that came to mind even louder as I was reading it was “Are we Christians really living this way?” Are we really being the Christlike example in our everyday interactions with both believers and non-believers, those who oppose us or not, Democrats or Republicans, black or white, religious or non-religious...?” Well, from where I sit on the other side of the tv screen, computer monitor or cell phone, I would have to sadly say no, not hardly. As Christians we should be loving, patient and kind and only speaking truth IN LOVE. It is up to God to judge and condemn, not Christians. We are called to show others what God’s Love looks like, to share the truth and gently guide the lost, hurting and broken. So for those of us who call ourselves Christians, we must ask ourselves this question daily, “Are we actually living like Christ in our treatment of others?” “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:12-17
