Why?

November 25, 2017

As a lot of you know, the evening of Thanksgiving Day we went through a scary ordeal that involved a shoot-out and a man-hunt on our farm. Which lead to the arrest of a man who had just hours before shot and killed Trooper Damon Allen. There have been so many varying emotions through the whole thing...the what-ifs and why we were saved while the trooper was not. I tend to think in terms of scripture as a way of processing things, so of course I had to share them 😊

Q: Why did the shooter drive straight from Fairfield to our driveway.
A: The devil has a habit of making beelines straight towards Gods Children: "Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour"
~1 Peter 5:8

Q: What stopped him from coming straight to the house?
A: God had a hedge of protection around us and used those who have sacrificially obeyed the calling to serve and protect : "But you, Lord, are a shield around me..."
~Psalm 3:3

Q: God, why did you save us and not Trooper Allen?
A:"You (God) have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer." "My times are in your hands..."
~Job 14:5 and Psalm31:15

Q: Anytime I question God as if I know better than Him.
A:“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?..." “Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place...?Have the gates of death been shown to you? Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth? Tell me, if you know all this. Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth?... Surely you know, for you were already born! You have lived so many years!..."
Job 38 (various versus)

"Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”
~Romans 11:33-34
