EVERYONE

This morning, one word stood out to me from Hebrews 2:9b…EVERYONE!! “Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.” Hebrews 2:9b

And instantly another word came to mind, sinners.

EVERYONE, Every SINNER has been offered the gift of salvation and eternal life…no matter how bad you have been.

Jesus’ death on the cross wasn’t for those who are perfect and have it all together! If anyone was capable of being perfect, there would be no need for Jesus’ sacrifice!

So, The Good News is, you don’t have to “have it all together” to accept this free, undeserved gift from God. The gift of His Love and The Gift of Eternal Life! Not to mention the abundant life His Salvation offers to us while we are still on earth, which is filled with, not money and things, but with a joy and peace that can be had even during the worst of times!

Now, on the flip side of that, we must understand that even our best is not good enough to save ourselves. We cannot go to heaven simply because we are good, it is only by faith in Christs sacrifice on the cross that makes us right with God. His blood covers our sins, our sin debt is wiped clean when we submit and trust our lives to Christ, along with choosing to live according to His ways. He looks at our hearts motives and not simply our actions or words (lip service). True surrender of our lives to Christ is the proof of our faith.

“No one is righteous— not even one.” Romans 3:9

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith. So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.” Romans 23-28
