The Struggle

This Bible Study me and a handful of other women are going through together is so relevant and needed! Here is a chunk of today’s truths: “Any good thing, like food, pain medicine, wine, or money, has the ability to be used incorrectly. The enemy of our souls is placing bets that we will take something good and use it for selfish gain or pleasure. When we use something inappropriately, it gives birth to sin. The sin starts out as “a little here, a little there” eventually grows into something that masters us-even as it seems to promise some payoff or reward. This is bondage. Bondage is involuntary servitude, or, as it is more commonly know , addiction. Common examples of addictions are dependencies on caffeine, sugar, fat, and salt. You don’t enjoy the payoff, but you keep returning to the addictive behavior because you feel trapped. You feel as if you have no will or choice, so you keep doing the very thing you don’t want to do.” ~Alisa Keeton “The Wellness Revelation” book If you ever feel like the Bible is no longer relevant and antiquated listen to Paul’s discussion about his struggle with sin. “I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.” Romans 7:15,19,24-25 Who else struggles with this? I know I do...constantly 🤦🏼‍♀️ However, I am so thankful that God understands this and Christ sympathizes with us, which is why a way was provided long ago for us to be forgiven of all our sins and the power through the Holy Spirit to help us daily as we break free from bondage. “So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:14-16 Amen!! 💕🙌🏼💕
