Our Refuge

This morning as I was about to pray for God to bring us out of the craziness of this stormy season of our life, I discovered what it means for the Holy Spirit to intercede for us as we pray. Let me explain, this morning before my prayer formed into a request, the prayer suddenly changed. And I know it was not my request but God’s because it wasn’t necessarily what I wanted. The prayer changed from me asking God to please set me free from the crazy busyness and storm, to “God, help me find peace, and strength IN the storm and to help me be a light in the middle of this stormy season. Y’all, I wept after that!! My desire was for God to remove me from the storm but His desire was for me to be a light in the middle of the storm to help others through their storms. His desire is that I would be a light in the darkness to point others toward the source of that light! Toward the source of the strength, peace and joy that only come from Him! Strength, peace and joy do not come from the absence of storms, they come only from God and sometimes the only way we will go to Him for those things, is when we are in a storm! When we turn to Him in the midst of trials, we have a time of bittersweet peace and joy. I’ve been there before and those times are the most precious times of my life. Where I felt held and comforted by my Heavenly Father. ❤️ “Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses...For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:26-28
