God Knows

I’m still reading from “In His Image” by Jen Wilkin and it sheds a new light on some old scriptures. She brings to light how “Just” God is. The following section I read this morning was very eye opening in regards to the wickedness and the perceived injustice in the world. She writes “But we can know this: no one gets away with anything. Nothing is hidden from His sight. There is no such thing as a secret sin. “God knows” is a common expression we use to indicate that we have no idea about the why or the what of a circumstance. We often speak it in frustration, but for the believer, that phrase acknowledges a basic fact that should elicit reassurance. God sees and He knows... how comforting to know that no injustice we may suffer goes unseen or unrepaid. How comforting... that the just Judge we must stand before is also the one we call on as our good Father! Imagine being placed on trial for a crime you committed in broad daylight, only to enter the courtroom and discover your dearly loved, infinitely loving, good, and compassionate father seated on the bench. Imagine also, as you stand to plead guilty, your brother Christ Jesus rising to intercede for you. His testimony stands: He has borne your guilt for having rebelled against God‘s good government. He has borne the government upon His shoulders, in the form of a wooden cross.” The part that really stood out to me was “God knows.” This statement should bring Christians comfort not fear and shame. If you are a friend and child of God, you should find comfort in this but f you are an enemy to God it should invoke fear. If it brings a little of both along with confusion read the following scripture in Colossians from two different translation to help bring some clarification. “...At one time you all had your backs turned to God, thinking rebellious thoughts of him, giving him trouble every chance you got. But now, by giving himself completely at the Cross, actually dying for you, Christ brought you over to God’s side and put your lives together, whole and holy in his presence. You don’t walk away from a gift like that! You stay grounded and steady in that bond of trust, constantly tuned in to the Message, careful not to be distracted or diverted. There is no other Message—just this one. Every creature under heaven gets this same Message. I, Paul, am a messenger of this Message.” Colossians 1:21 “...At one time you all had your backs turned to God, thinking rebellious thoughts of him, giving him trouble every chance you got. I, Paul, am a messenger of this Message.” Colossians 1:21 So, you see, it is by our faith in Jesus and the payment He made for all our sins, that we can find comfort in the statement that “God knows.” God knows all we do wrong yet He also knows that His son already paid the penalty for those who believe. Believe what exactly? Believe that God sent His son to die on a cross to pay for our sins, because He knew His children were hopeless and in bondage to sin and destruction. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 We can also find comfort that God knows and sees when innocent children, people or animals have been hurt by the hands of the wicked. It does not go unseen nor does it go unpunished. So decide today, are you a child and friend to God or are you His enemy. Are you the one who is protected by a loving Father or are you the one who stands condemned for your crimes? “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:8-10 God is a good God who protects His children and seeks justice for the suffering that the unGodly commit against them. Seek comfort and healing from your Heavenly Father. “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:8
