Earnestly Seeking

This mornings study was so good! I’ve always heard many people question and I’ve wondered myself, if quiet time should be in the morning or if it really matters. I mean, as long as we get our time in daily with God, that’s all that matters, right? Or like I hear a lot “I’m just not a morning person” so wouldn’t it be better to get it in later when I’m fully awake. Well, for some reason I’ve always felt strongly about my needing to do it in the morning. Not for “religious practice” sake but because I felt it was what God wanted from me and I found it helps start my day off right. Well, in this mornings lesson we studied Psalm 63 and when I dug a little deeper in the first verse it helped me see why I felt that way. In verse one it says “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you;...” So when I was reflecting on what exactly “earnestly” meant in the original language, I found these definitions: 1. Be up early at any task 2. To search for painstakingly 3. Enquire early 4. Rise 5. Seek diligently early in the morning I love that! So in my opinion and experience, I feel it’s important to start your day off with eyes on God. Seeking to know Him and His Will early in the morning as if it were your compass and map for the day. Setting you on the right path with the right attitude and strength that comes from Him alone. Here’s an interesting excerpt regarding this: “There are scientifically-proven benefits. I read some research by Dr. Caroline Leaf recently that revealed something so fascinating. When we sleep our brains produce baby neurons. How we use those new neurons first thing in the morning determines so much about our patterns of thought for that day. And that process is called… neuroGENESIS! How cool is that?! Giving the Lord our first thoughts – our genesis thoughts – each day can really help us process life in healthier ways. So from a spiritual and scientific standpoint our first 5 minutes really matter! “ …We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5b (NIV) ~Lysa Terkheurst First5 So for me, it’s a dire must to seek God before doing anything, even if it’s just a quick prayer before I climb out of bed 😊 “So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’...seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” Matthew 6:31-33
