God Hears our Prayers...

I was reading in 1 Kings this morning, and it reminded me of how, too often, scriptures regarding God answering prayers get misquoted or taken out of its full context (meaning). In the following scriptures, you'll see in God's Word, where it tells us that God hears our prayers and answers them, but we must pair them with the scriptures that elaborate in more detail on God answering prayers. The full meaning that God hears our prayers and answers them, when we ask according to His Will. "For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:8 "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him." 1 John 5:14-15 "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." John 14:14 "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." James 1:5 So back to my scripture reading this morning In 1 Kings 3:7-14, we see a perfect example of what that really looks like. "“Now, O Lord my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted! Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?” The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom. So God replied, “Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies— I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have! And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life! And if you follow me and obey my decrees and my commands as your father, David, did, I will give you a long life.” Before I learned this in it's full context, I would get confused and hurt when it seemed God didn't hear or answer my prayers. However, when I finally learned the whole truth, I had peace once again, that I could trust God and His Word. The more you dig, the more your faith is strengthened and the doubts begin to fade away. To read a little more on this and how we are to "pray according to His Will", below I have shared a link to a short article that was very informative and easy to read. https://www.gotquestions.org/praying-will-of-God.html
